Which Mac? Which dealer to buy from?

I would like to buy a new Mac in the coming weeks and would like to know from you which retailer you would recommend. I'm already looking around myself and comparing many offers and prices. But one or the other may know a dealer that I have not yet come across.

Since the new Mac is actually intended exclusively for the home office, personally most tend to be the "all-in-one" iMac or iMac Pro. But since I also use other workstations and notebooks, at least think about whether a MacBook with an external "monitor setup" might make more sense.

It is well known that Macs cost a fair amount of money. Precisely for this reason, get opinions and tips from third parties before buying, so that I might not end up biting myself in the very least "If only I had bought X". The Mac is primarily used for app and web development, image and video post-production as well as office stuff.

Short and sweet:
Please tell me about your experience with dealers and write your personal pros and cons for the respective setup. Say iMac or MacBook with an external monitor.

So I always buy the whole thing directly from Apple, for the whole family. Friendly staff, quick exchange if something didn't work and everything is explained. I think the prices are okay for that.

I would go to Apple directly unless you somehow live in the largest village and have to drive 2 hours to the next apple store then simply order online from apple

Always buy the technology things from Otto with a 10% discount. This is how best prices come about.

And then I use Payback (sometimes there are 20 subject points = corresponds to an additional 10%)

If you get a good price on Amazon then do it there. So far I had no problems with the "expensive" devices I bought, everything was great. But… Apple? 😪😪

Dr

Big thanks for the tip; never even thought about it. About my current employer and others Get a 15% discount on almost every item in the shop at Otto. Perhaps there's more in it about other actions.

Addendum: Now look directly with my personnel number, can save a whole 800 euro with the iMac Pro.

Since I have only used second-hand Macs so far, I know very little about Apple and other retailers. Just found out through the user "Vani1999191" that I can save ~ 800-900 euro through my employer thanks to "Corporate Benefits" at Otto.

Can you perhaps tell me by accident whether you can still contact Apple directly if you have any problems or would always be the contact person in such a case. Say the Mac is sent to the dealer, it passes it on to Apple and in the end everything comes back.

I would always look at idealo .de (put together). In my opinion, this is the best comparison portal and you can even order from idealo through some dealers and will not be forwarded to the dealer. I have e.g. AirPods Pro get cheaper for 40 euro two weeks after market launch (!)

I have to report back now. In the meantime I have ordered a 27 "iMac Pro from Otto, a new graphics tablet and accessories. For me it was really worth it and I will check it out in the future.

I now know that I get a 15% discount on all items. Even those that are already discounted or discounted. With such expensive products, it really makes itself felt and I'm glad that I asked about it here beforehand. 😊

Ma

I'm glad that I could help you further.
