WLAN connection fails, what can I do?

I despair.

I bought a new computer and just can't get it connected to my WLAN.

The router is the ConnectBox from Unitymedia (now Vodafone).

I don't have any problems accessing the Wi-Fi with any cell phone or laptop.

If I try to use the new PC, I always get: No connection to this network possible.

If I build a hotspot with my mobile phone, the PC connects to this WLAN.

I've already switched off the firewall but no chance.

What could it be?

The first step in such a situation is always: cables.

Only if you can do it with cables, try wlan.

fr

Ok, I'll try it right away… But it is my 2nd PC from CSL, I tried the first with a cable 2 years ago, but haven't managed to do it until today… I'll give you feedback later…

st

Everything works and if not, we have to carry it.

Get the other computer right away.

The query for internet is

ping 4.2.2.1

fr

Sorry had to leave for a customer appointment. Now I'm full of energy. No problem via LAN cable internet. I remove this and try it with WLAN no chance. What do I do with ping 4.2.2.1?

st

This ping verifies whether you are in the internet per se. Is the ping ok over a LAN cable?

fr

Yes there he says 5 sent 5 received

st

Ok, then the thing either doesn't radio or it doesn't communicate.

Go to the router's log file and check whether your device appears there as an access or access attempt.

fr

Mauritan, I can't understand, here are a few excerpts from the log:

Radar signal detected, DFS sequence applied, channel changed from 120 to 48

No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out; CM-MAC

Illegal - Dropped FORWARD packet: SRC = 2a03: 2880: f2ff: 00c2: face: b00

GUI Login Status - Login Success from LAN interface; client ip =

TR069 start; CM-MAC

st

Uje, uje, I don't understand much either.

In any case, the radar signal is also known as a "radio signal" and broadcast. However, I don't know whether that is active or passive.

Could it be that he is transmitting on a frequency that the computer does not recognize?

Your computer already has a radio stick, doesn't it? Typically desktop computers do not radio. You have to buy a small card or a stick.

You may be trying to make a call without a phone device. Can I exclude that?

fr

Hello yes you are allowed to have a WLAN card built in… Both… Back then only 2.4, this time 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I'm already thinking about connecting a Fritz Box to the Connect Box, possibly Wi-Fi will work on it… And as I said, both computers recognize the Wi-Fi hotspot built with a cell phone immediately…

st

What happens if you let the computer search for Wi-Fi?

fr

He finds various WLANs but whenever I want to connect, no connection is possible with this network. If I build a hotspot and want to connect to AndroidAP, it works immediately…

st

Is the passphrase, the frequency correct and is there no Mac number block or other filter in the router?

fr

Passphrase doesn't mean anything to me, where do I find them, how do I compare them? Frequency I can with, I also switched off 2.4 and 5.0 separately on the router, without success. No no filter… I only reset router today because I no longer knew the log in…

fr

Mauritan, my intellectual disabilities seem to be limitless… Sorry for the trouble… WLAN works… I don't really want to go into it much further.

st

Congratulation! - No matter what it was.

A passphrase is the word you enter that is used to encrypt the signal. Vulgo "password".

Thank you for the compliment.

Please tell us what it was! My main advice is "switching on helps" and with that I'm often right about myself. Things that seem very obvious are easy to overlook in our complicated world.

fr

Even if I'm embarrassed: Antennas have to be screwed into the WLAN card… Actually logical… Only he had shown me many WLAN networks… And of course he connected to the cell phone, that was right near the computer… Rum, everyone Overtaken in December and secured me the title of Vollhonk of the year. Thanks again for the help, have a nice Christmas time and a better year 2021 …

st

Merry Christmas to you too!

I'm a little disappointed too. Because I had imagined something much "simpler", smile.
