Can someone tell me what the alienware graphics amplifier is doing? Do you have to buy an additional graphics card that you install and then connect to the Alienware laptop or do you not have to buy one? Does it make a big difference to the amp?
As I understand it, the Alienware graphics amplifier is nothing more than a case with a 460 watt power supply. In this you can also install a graphics card like those found in PCs and then connect the amplifier to your Alienware notebook. This should give you better graphics performance than is built into the notebook (i.e. A type of dedicated graphics card).
If you only use your laptop for surfing and office, then you don't need a graphics amplifier. However, if you play demanding games, have a graphics card flying around with you and want to use it as a graphics card for your laptop, the graphics amplifier will help you to use the power of your dedicated graphics card on the laptop.
I just can't say whether a graphics card is included with the delivery of such an amplifier. For the price, I don't think so. In itself it wouldn't make sense anyway. It is worth buying a better laptop if you really want to play games on a notebook.
