I looked for laptops on the internet and then came across the "Alienware graphics amplifier". Since you can already read its function from the name, my question would be whether it is worth it and how much better the graphics would be or whether it would improve the FPS or not.
So for yourself? Not at all. The part itself does not bring you any added value in terms of performance. It only offers the necessary connections to connect a desktop graphics card and then use its computing power for a notebook.
It's not worth it at all. I want to buy an Alienware m15 R2 with an i7 and an RTX 2060 and I don't know whether this graphics card is sufficient or not
This is nothing more than a housing for an external graphics card.
You can use various connections so that you can virtually do this when you are not using the laptop on the move, but at your home position here with a box that you equip with a GPU and which then takes over the calculation for the laptop. (The GPU is not included but must be purchased separately).
In principle, a good idea, in reality, a considerable waste of money, as the result is not the same as if you actually had the built-in card. This is due to latencies / switching times and interfaces and can't be solved so easily. For someone who has so much money left for such fun, I would always recommend simply buying a desktop PC with the laptop that makes more sense or, alternatively, buying the laptop at a higher price. But also here in the end - I can only advise against laptops for gaming, the heat build-up of the corresponding components can't be managed well in the long term and the lifespan of such laptop models is underground. It is always better to buy a work laptop / pad and a desktop PC to play, the parts only make sense if you are practically constantly on the move and still want to play - but still very, very expensive.
It is convincing - effectively not like that.
Would that be worth it for an Alienware m15 R2 with an i7 and an RTX 2060? Or can I play current games with at least 60 fps?
The question is what it must be enough for. My desktop PC currently has a 2060 built in myself. All current titles run stably in maximum settings in 1440p with at least 60 FPS. Personally, I don't need more to be happy and will probably not have to think about an upgrade until 2022.
But yes, if you don't have a 3070 lying around, you have zero added value with the part.
I recently checked the Alienware prices & I think you're paying stupid & stupid for their constellations. Sure it has to be Alienware?
I have a very tough choice right now. Either a self-made PC with an i5 10600K and an RTX 3070 (as a desktop PC) or the Alienware m15 R2 with an i7 and an RTX 2060. What do you think I should choose?
I found the Alienware m15 R2 for 1299 euro…
I don't believe in notebooks as a gaming system. Screen too small and poorly positioned, upgradeability not available, price for comparable performance simply too expensive. And the few days that I would really not be at home are not necessarily days on which I would have dragged along a heavy notebook for gaming.
But I'll definitely buy a monitor. Would that work or the desktop PC? I found the notebook for 1299 euro
The notebook also looks good xD. But I place more value on performance and on the inside. My friends are like RGB lighting, which I can't understand
Definitely the desktop PC, but only when the market has stabilized. Even the 1299 euro for the notebook are a waste of money.
