My laptop has an Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000 and an AMD Radeon HD 7400m.
My problem: After reinstalling Windows 10, my laptop no longer booted. After numerous resets and reinstallations, Windows 10 was able to boot. However, "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is displayed in the device manager instead of the AMD. Well: Sometimes the driver installation works and I can use the laptop normally and after a Windows update it can't be started or it crashes immediately after the driver installation.
Does anyone have any idea or experience with it?
The problem is not the software or any drivers but your BIOS on your laptop.
The Intel core is probably selected as the graphics unit, so your CPU should take a picture.
But there's also an external card - the AMD graphics card installed that also wants to take a picture and apparently they both disturb each other so much - that your PC says - Nope
Do the following
Go to your motherboard BIOS, usually F10 or DEL (remove key). Could also be a different one, is usually also displayed briefly at the start.
Are you in the BIOS of your laptop look for something like Advanced i the upper tab and for the category "Primary Graphics Adapter"
Select PCI there or stop what doesn't sound like INTEL or internal.
That should fix the problem.
First, thanks for your answer. "Main, Security, Diagnostics, System Configuration and Exit" are displayed as tabs in the BIOS. The tab "System Configuration" only has the sub-items "Language, Virtualization Technology, Fan Always On, Action Keys Mode, Switchable Graphics Mode and Boot Options". Should I change something there?
Switchable Graphics Mode doesn't sound bad -
Look what settings there are, maybe it's enough if you
sets the whole to "Auto" mode.
Always change one thing and see what works - if it doesn't help, you can undo it the next time you start it.
You can search the Internet for BIOS help or something similar, most of the terms are explained there.
Many Thanks.
