I lost my charger from my Surface Laptop. Now I want to buy one (not directly from Microsoft). Which wattage is optimal? Some pages say 102 W, some 65W others 44W. Now I can't decide.
I bought a device from a third-party manufacturer. (Amazon) Works perfectly and costs a fraction.
Yes, but with what wattage?
Rule of thumb: the more the better.
OK. The original with 102W costs 80 euro. At Amazon cheaper than 50 euro there's a maximum of 44W. Do I save at the wrong end if I take less watts?
Please look on the nameplate of the book, which model you have exactly, and which AC adapter is recommended for this purpose.
At Power Supply the nameplate of the book usually shows the required operating voltage for the power supply plus the minimum current stability in mA or A.
The rated voltage should best be identical to the requirement, the current carrying capacity of the power supply can also be about 20 to max. 50% higher than minimum required.
This has something to do with the device efficiency of the PSU. Best not more than 25% current carrying capacity, as required on the nameplate of the book to ensure the best possible efficiency design. (relative to original power supplies)
For power supplies from third-party manufacturers choose better times about 50% higher current carrying capacity than required.
Sigh - I picked out the original power supply. On it is output: 12 V, 2.58 A. That's 31 watts. The manual of the Surface should indicate the power consumption. Read? Kansste right?
Thank you
My pleasure. 😉
