I'm facing a difficult decision right now. I need a new laptop and have limited my choices to these two products.
Dell XPS 13 (2020): https://www.dell.com/...300-laptop (i7, 10th Gen / 8 GB RAM / 512 GB hard drive / 3840 x 2400, Touch / 19h battery life) for ~ 1,300 EUR
Microsoft Surface Laptop 3: https://www.microsoft.com/...b=overview (i5, 10th Gen / 8 GB / 256 GB / 11.5 h battery life) for ~ 1,150 EUR
I also did some research on reddit and read that the screens of the MSL3 can break (according to the reports, very, very easily), but there were also cons at Dell such as poor quality control or the long delivery time.
What can you recommend to me? Justifications would be very nice.
I need the laptop for everyday life and for university, so I won't use intensive programs. My gut feeling tells me that the XPS would be the better choice, as you get so much more for a mere 150 EUR extra.
There's a lot of money involved, hence this indecision.
The battery life and storage capacity alone would be worth it to me. Nothing is more annoying than an empty battery or a full SSD, because the device is then unusable.
The surcharge of +150 euro is already limited. Apart from the other better specifications.
For me the battery power, the ssd / RAM size and the resolution of the display are important.
For university I would rather buy a used laptop instead of such an expensive new one.
Not much has happened recently that it is worth buying a new device.
Unfortunately, a used laptop is out of the question. Especially because there would be no more guarantees. But would want to use one of the two laptops for years. I've had my current one for 5 years haha
Thank you! Makes the decision easier for me.
If that's what your gut feeling says then trust me.
