I bought a new notebook, which is loaded via a type C port.
Therefore, I ask myself the following question: Can I charge with my charger (in my case: Baseus Quick Charge 4.0 charger) and a type C to type C cable?
The manufacturer (Chuwi) states that the device is charged with a voltage of 12V.
On the QC 4.0 charger, which I usually use for my smartphone, the following data is available: Type C Output: 5V (then a straight line, with a few dots below) 3A; 9V (again this line) 3A; 12V (again this line) 2.5A; 15V (again this line) 2A; 20V (again this line) 1,5A Max
Then there are next to "USB output" the same data, as with "Type C" output, only without the 15V voltage.
Underneath is still "USB + Type C total Output: 5V (this dash with the dots) 5A.
For input: Input: AC 100-240V ~, 50-60Hz, 0,7A Max.
What do these data mean in concrete terms? And does that mean that I can operate the charger with a voltage of 12 volts without anything happening?
I'd already like to thank you for your answers.
At this point I do not know how "intelligent" your alternative charger is, but a good USB charger should recognize for itself which charging technology supports the device (your notebook) via USB, and then negotiate and set the charging mode automatically with the device.
Modern USB Multicharger with Quick-Charge or USB - Power-Charge master several charging modes with different voltages.
Otherwise, in case of doubt simply use the original power supply of the notebook for charging.
Hm… What could happen in the worst case?
If the charger is not by chance a technically unverified gray import into the EU, then at worst nothing happens; means… The book does not load.
However, in the least case you should always use the right USB charging cable for the possible fast charging procedures.
But "Chuwi" already points to cheap Asian production. Since then I would risk nothing and better use the original power supply. (Test certificates are sometimes faked for import into the EU)
Chuwi is the manufacturer of the notebook and not the charger. Since I have probably expressed wrong…
The manufacturer of the charger is "Baseus".
I stick with my recommendation, better only to use the enclosed original power supply for the notebook.
