How do you like my laptop?

ca

Looks suspiciously like the Windows 10 Task Manager.
The components that you can see there are relatively old, approx. 7 years and then even then were not necessarily powerful.

For everyday use (office, web browsing, media playback) it is easily sufficient these days.

Is quite old.

Of course, if it's still going well, you don't need to buy a new laptop. In games that could meanwhile be bad.

My mother only got it for school so it's not a gaming laptop

Ta

So-so. It's pretty old that part.

The laptop is almost as good for internet, office and office use as any new laptop.

The CPU is not particularly important (it can easily manage 5 Zoom Meetings at the same time) but luckily you have an SSD hard drive, otherwise a very laptop would be very, very slow.

Has been a good buy! ✅

Yes, but the CPU is completely sufficient and there's an SSD in it - so actually very good.

The Intel Core i7-4710MQ (Haswell) is still quite acceptable today and in terms of computing power / IPC with its 4 cores / 8 threads is still roughly on the level of an AMD Ryzen 5 - 2500u / 3500u.

However, the performance efficiency per watt is noticeably behind Ryzen. For Office and Web + Video, however, this CPU can easily be throttled in a manually configured energy saving plan to around 50 to 60% of its performance / clock range in favor of lower temperatures and longer battery life. ( if desired )

My book contains a Core i5 - 4320M with 2 Cores / 4 Threads @ 2.6 Ghz and works in the mentioned disciplines without any problems at 50% of the available performance level at around 1.6 to 2.0 Ghz.

However, the graphics units both offer a maximum of H.264 in hardware acceleration in the area of video coding. HEVC / H.265 would have to be (dec) encoded via the CPU. The Nvidia Geforce GT 730m (Kepler) delivers noticeably more power than the Intel HD 4600 iGPU, but it only performs moderately compared to modern iGPUs from Intel and AMD. More than an Intel HD 520/610 to 620 or AMD Vega 3 (in the Ryzen-based Athlons) is not to be expected in terms of performance.

As a result, gaming is only possible to a very limited extent and is at most sufficient for old and (very) undemanding games in terms of graphics performance, with possibly additionally reduced details and resolutions.

Otherwise for Office, Web and Video (also H.265 via CPU encoding) still absolutely fine. Even for IOS / Android emulators, the performance should be sufficient; if only for games that are not graphically too demanding from the rough days of an Iphone 6/7 or Samsung Galaxy S5 / S6.

Ta

Well, it should be enough for school.
