Charging cable only works with my laptop?

As mentioned in the title, my charging cable for my laptop does not work. The charging cable itself works, because when I plug it into my sister's laptop, it charges up, but not with me.

I would like to know why that could be.

My laptop is no longer synonymous.

Recently my charging cable broke down. There was a minor electric shock while connected to my laptop.

The make and model of my laptop and that of my sister is the same.
