I have an old Windows laptop which I use as a home server with a few external hard drives. A good little affair.
Therefore it is a laptop and not a computer, which of course also has a battery.
Therefore, batteries don't like it when they only stay at 100% (another laptop of mine only lasts 10 minutes without a battery because of this), I had the idea to connect a timer to the charger. But then the laptop would do 5 charge cycles a day!
Which is better or worse?
You want to operate the part stationary. You don't care about the battery. You could take that out too!
You could also remove the battery from the notebook (if possible) and then simply operate the device using the power adapter.
You then charge the battery to around 70 to 80% before removing it and then store it in a cool and dry place. You then check the charge level every few months and recharge if the charge level has dropped to around 30% at some point.
In the case of notebooks with built-in batteries, you could also look for software to consciously control the charge levels. Then, for example, you can set that the battery is only charged to a maximum of 80% and that recharging is only initiated from e.g. 30% charge level.
In terms of software, it would be something in the direction of Battery Limiter
Thanks! Then I will probably remove the battery, that should be the better option.
My pleasure. 😉
