Microsoft has not been able to get to grips with the problems with the keyboard. In the meantime, I had a total of 3 Surface Pro, the 2, the 3 … There was always the problem at some point that the keyboard stopped working. The support for MS is underground and you always end up in the same scenario: "Buy a new keyboard for the cost of around 130 euro."
Unfortunately, even that does not help. I can only advise you against buying a Surface. If you want something that is durable and can be upgraded even after years, I recommend you to an Acer Notbook. Or if you want to spend money on a Macbook.
