Today I tried to watch Netflix on my TV (not a Smart TV). I connected my Chromebook with an HDMI cable and selected "Mirrored screen" on the laptop. You could see everything you saw on the laptop as well as the television. Then I tried a movie on Netflix. The second how long it will run, the rating and everything was displayed but the film was not visible on the laptop or on the television, I heard the sound of the film on the television but the film was just a black picture.
Are you using the Netflix app or the Netflix website?
