What does the red light on the power strip mean?

I have such a long 9er bar with over-voltage protection and off switch… Since the lamp shines red in this warning symbol… I've never noticed so I do not know if it has always been so or just recently… Have no more instructions or so… Does that mean she is kapput or does it mean the protection is active? The red light indicates that the power strip is powered. If you turn it off, it will stop powering and all the devices connected there will go off. Your laptop can't be charged anymore.
