My laptop's power cord is damaged.
The coat is partially off.

What could I do to mend the cable jacket?

Unfortunately, I can't get a shrink tube over it, because the end of the cable ends in a thicker plug.
Crimping is out of the question.
It should be as unobtrusive as possible.

Which laptop do you have? There are often compatible ones at "Amazon"
Buy self-adhesive insulating tape / please do not use anything else… Costs little

There's self-welding insulating tape. Afterwards it is waterproof and even partially acid-resistant (definitely stable enough for a cable).
