I'm currently in pages / gallery.html and would like to include an image from here that is located in the img folder on the top level. The relative link with./img/picture.jpg works perfectly and I think I will continue to link relatively in the future. I wanted to try the root link with /, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I work locally on my laptop. No XAMPP, no web server.
With HTML there's only relative to the current file path or absolutely.
There's no "root" and there can't be one. How then? How should your script know what to take as root? A directory on top? Two? HTML suborder from xampp? Or maybe xampp folder itself? Or C:, D: or another drive?
Install a web server (e.g. Via XAMPP) and go to the page above. Then the slash points to the root directory of the website (for XAMPP: htdocs).
Just try "\" instead of "/"… Pictures \ pics2019 \ 1234.jpg
Perfect, works now.
