No internet connection after Windows 10 upgrade?

Since I have already searched several threads and have successfully followed various instructions, I ask the question myself.

I recently upgraded my laptop from Win 7 to Win 10.

Under the network settings, I was able to connect to the router and also indicated that there was access to the Internet! However, WinExplorer shows me the opposite after opening the window. All other programs also fail.

What to do?

Br

Yes, this is because your network card driver is not compatible with the upgrade. Install a complete current driver package from your manufacturer. Then the problem should go away.

Co

Use the new Windows 10 function to reset the network mak.

Alternatively, uninstall the used network adapter driver and reinstall the current one or simply restart Windows 10 times afterwards. Don't let updates go through, including driver search.

You do not specify which Internet connection we're talking about here. - I assume that WLAN is meant.

Go to the device manager and check whether and which WLAN driver is installed.
You may have to search for, download and install the driver for your WLAN adapter on the Internet yourself.

Ai

Fact! I forgot to mention it. This is the WLAN.

Ai

Thanks for the answer. I downloaded and installed the appropriate driver. But unfortunately not a success…

Ai

With the prompt, I entered several "netsh…" commands, the complete network settings were restarted, drivers were uninstalled and automatically reinstalled after restarting Windows. No success.

Br

Not just the driver for the network card. All drivers in one driver package. Did you do that too?

Ru

What is displayed in the device manager> double-click on the WLAN adapter> driver? (Driver provider, version)

Ai

Driver provider: Microsoft

Date: Oct 7, 2011 (fairly old)

Version 14.2.1.4

Signature: Microsoft Windows

It is the Intel (R) Wi-Fi Link 5100 AGN

Ru

Result of a short internet research: Intel no longer offers support for this adapter.

You could try again now:
In the device manager, right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter> Update driver> Automatically search for updated driver software…

If that doesn't work and you're dependent on Wi-Fi, I would buy a Wi-Fi stick to solve the problem - it doesn't cost the world.

Ai

I have just learned that the manufacturer no longer offers support for this. I have not found a correct driver package. Only some for GraKa etc.

You can't open a page even with your own cell phone or USB tethering.

Ai

Thanks for the research. I'll take your advice and give you feedback later. Unfortunately, no page can be opened with the mobile phone via USB tethering. I will also try it via LAN… Last option?!

Ai

Unfortunately, nothing worked. Could only access the router.

Ru

Are the other networks around you displayed?
If you can access the router with the WLAN stick, the rest is m. E. Just a question of attitude.
For many years I have only been using a LAN connection on my Win PC. Therefore can't help you on the last few meters.

Have you already tried restarting the modem router?
