Loudspeaker: bang when switching on / off?

My external speakers are connected to my notebook via USB.

Every time I switch my notebook on or off, there's a loud bang from the speakers.

How can we prevent this?

Do they have a volume control? What happens if you turn it down before switching it on?
Otherwise you can't do much there, they are just like that…

Hard to say where the crack is coming from. With a radio I would place a capacitor parallel to the switch… But only solder around on the notebook if you have some idea of the subject.

Alternative: shut down the notebook and then switch it off

If you are unable to locate the source, you can help yourself differently.

When the amplifier is switched off, a resistor should be connected in series with the loudspeaker. The resistance should be big enough to get the crackling into the quiet area and small enough to be done within a second.
When the amplifier is switched on, a relay is switched on with a one second delay. This relay bridges the resistance and thus restores the original state.

It is of course better to find the source of interference and to suppress it. Because the interferer can also interfere with other devices and then it becomes too expensive if you modify all other devices.

So do I have to solder / tinker with the amplifier?

You should only fix the solution yourself if you have the necessary knowledge. In that case, I don't have to answer your question.

If you are rather ignorant in the field of electronics / electrical engineering, it is better for your life and that of others if you keep your hands off it.

Maybe you know an expert.
