I'm a bit desperate… I've built a small server to run as a NAS / cloud / media server.
I run it with Linux Mint. My laptop is also running Linux Mint. I have now downloaded all the necessary things for Samba and released a hard drive. I get you immediately displayed on my laptop. However, I fail then when I log in (although I have allowed the access for guests) No matter what I do, there's always an exclamation point at the password… Which is entered correctly.
Am I doing something wrong? Which command can I use to create a new user? Or does that help me with my problem not further? Many thanks in advance!
On both devices runs Linux M; int 19.1 Tessa with the Cinnemon surface. Everything up to date.
Samba user stuff and passwords you manage with https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/smbpasswd.8.html
Alternatively, you allow writeable guest access on your shares, so you do not need a password anymore.
You only need samba if Windows is involved.
For your things, an NFS server must be set up on one side and an NFS client on the other.
It is already too long ago, to give specific hints here. The NFS server exports (sometimes called "share") directories listed in the / etc / exports file. There are man pages for that.
Apt install -y cifs-utils
mount -t cifs -o guest // smb-server / directory / mnt /
