My battery (laptop) is not charging? Can someone

Maybe there's someone here who is familiar with laptops and can help me. I know that my information may be scarce and it is more of a remote diagnosis, but maybe there's someone here who knows.

I own a Fujitsu (LIFEBOOK A557). The laptop battery does not seem to charge properly (even though it is attached to the cable). But this is only a guess, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the technology of a laptop.

When I switch the laptop on (on the cable), it boots up, but (at the latest) shortly after logging in, the laptop switches off and the red battery lamp lights up red. Do I immediately press the power button again, do the lights on the system display only light up briefly? White on. If I wait a long time again, the game starts all over again. I was advised to take out the battery and turn on the laptop with the cable, so you could see whether it is the battery. However, my friend couldn't tell me how the laptop would "react" to a dead battery. My observation: The display comes on briefly, the logo appears, the laptop goes off.

I know that this is a remote diagnosis, but how likely is it that it is the battery? Unfortunately, the 3 month warranty has expired. The laptop wasn't exactly cheap, it would really annoy me if it gave up now.

Is it worth ordering a new one or, with the signs, is it definitely not due to the battery?

I don't know if this is necessary, but I'll attach some information about the laptop:

A known weak point of all laptops is the connection point of the charging socket + charging cable plug

there, a cable break or damage to the socket can quickly and unnoticed.

the test without a battery shows whether the problem is at this point or whether it is the battery. If the laptop works without a battery on the power supply unit, the battery is defective.

the things are subject to the usual wear and tear and do not last forever and 3 days. You can tell from the ever shorter downtimes of the fully charged battery that a new one is due soon.

it is problematic if the charging socket has been damaged by rough handling, then the part has to be taken to the workshop.
