Protect against virus, how?

Whenever I turn on my laptop, it shows up on Norton Internet Security every time. That my laptop is no longer safe and I should extend it.

For years I didn't pay any attention to it. Now I looked at Amazon to renew my subscription. The mostly negative rating is available.

So now my question, how can I protect my laptop from viruses? And how do I get rid of that (see picture)? I can't deactivate or delete this anywhere so that it doesn't keep showing up as soon as I turn on my laptop.

You can use any other virus program.

Personally, I would recommend Kaspersky, but there are many other good programs out there too.

You can get rid of this warning screen by uninstalling Norton.

Which operating system does the laptop run on?

Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10:

Windows 7:

Download the https://www.microsoft.com/...px?id=5201 and install it. These offer good protection for Windows 7.

However, if you are still using Windows 7 or older systems on your laptop, I would advise you to update to 10 as soon as possible. Sometimes it could still be free. Simply because the support period for 7 and older will expire in the not too distant future / has already expired and the system thus only represents a risk in the network!

I have Windows Vista.
