Defragment Windows 7 automatically?

My good old computer / laptop only runs like an extra slow snail. In the Corona crisis I finally found time to deal with it. It is still a Windows 7 machine.

My question is above.

Apart from the above question, I read somewhere on the Internet or x that the hard drives are broken down into several parts which I don't know.

So: which part of the hard drive can I defragment without problems if Modous does not automatically exist? Can I put it somewhere?

The best way to tell me is how to defragment your computer. Since there are also programs etc.

Of course, the hard disk can be usefully (C. Defragment - also automatically.
see: https://www.giga.de/...tomatisch/

However, I think defragmenting in terms of speed doesn't make the big leap forward. - Not even a CCleaner cleanup.

The only thing that helps is to back up all your data and set up the laptop again.
Then I would not install Win7 - but Win10.
Win10 can also be activated by entering the Win7 product key.

I had learned it at school once. But don't know exactly. Perhaps they can add / complete further

A = predecessor of diskette

B = floppy disk itself

C = data (written texts, images, videos, etc.)

D = programs, shortcuts and everything else the system needs

E = at least not available on my device

F = drive / CD / Blueray etc

G to Z = USB sticks and (similar) connected devices

Correct?

But why are there programs on C and D? There must be a mistake somewhere. Or I installed something wrong etc.

I mean which of the two hard drives should I defragment now? I'm concerned with the space created by the files. I actually mean: are files (writing, pictures, videos, etc.) on the second one like the programs? What is the best way to find out?

Defragmentation makes sense. Do another S.M.A.R.T test before you can see if there are any errors

Gu

Please again in easy language. I'm not really like that. But unfortunately I don't understand which test to take before.

A + B is right.
The partition on which Windows and generally the programs are installed is automatically named with (C.

When installing a program, the Windows installer suggests (C. As the storage location.
With most programs, another partition can also be selected, if there's one. - Can be advantageous for a smaller SSD with (C;)

In the disk management I see:
(C. (150 GB on disk 0) is only for Windows and for the installed programs

(D. (780 GB on disk 0) is for my "own files",

(E. (290 GB on disk 1) backups

(F. Removable medium, remark: No medium

(H. USB 2 stick / drive inserted

(I. USB 3 stick / drive inserted

As far as defragmenting is concerned, I only think (C. Of interest. On all other partitions, if they exist, nothing usually happens for Windows operation.

Do you really have a laptop with 2 hard drives? - If so, what's on it?

With Windows 7 you can have the C hard drive defragmented automatically. This can be set in Windows. To do this, go to the defragmentation area and select automatic defragmentation there. However, you also have to set a schedule for this, i.e. How often you want to defragment: daily, weekly once, monthly or how often the hard disk should be defragmented. You can specify this exactly in the settings with the time. If you should not find the area, I can give you the keyboard shortcuts. Because of my blindness, I don't work with a mouse.
