Linux with AMD A8-6410?

I'm thinking of adding Linux to my laptop. Now I have watched a video where it is said that you should tend to avoid Linux if you have an AMD graphics card, as this usually Doesn't run with Linux. This video is from 2017. My question now is whether I can run Linux with the above graphics card in 2020.

This is nonsense. AMD supports its graphics cards very well on Linux thanks to the AMD GPU. Most of the time, the drivers are already there before the graphics card comes on the market. You just have to make sure to use a distribution that is as current as possible, like Fedora or (my favorite) Manjaro. I have a current system with AMD Ryzen and iGPU on a laptop. Runs great.

Nvidia is hindering driver development, not AMD.

In your place I would stay with Windows because you have to search very laboriously if the software does not find a driver by itself. Unfortunately I can't answer your question with your graphics card. But if that was said in 2017 that problems could arise, then I don't think it will be any different in 2020.

Tuxedo has put together a PC with NVidia card. No problem with Ubuntu

That's nonsense. What can only happen to you with AMD graphics cards is that AMD discontinues support for the proprietary drivers for "older" models. Then you have to take the opensource driver. It is not bad, but it can cause problems (I have it with a laptop - since then I can no longer use it with GNU / Linux.

Download the ISO from Mint Cinnamon and write it on any USB pen (> = 16 GB) according to the instructions on the website.

If you boot your computer from it, the Mint desktop will appear and you can use and try all Linux programs without any installation. When you see the desktop, the graphics work.

This live function only has Linux, Windows can't do this.

I have / had 4 computers with AMD chips, they all worked fine with Linux.
