The thing is: I'm a student and I drove to my parents during the Pentecost holidays, but I forgot my laptop charging cable. As I have yet to write an essay, I have considered that I simply take the charging cable from my parents, but I know that it can break the laptop, if you take the wrong one. How can I find out if the cable is suitable for my laptop? Only by the voltage?
The cable is rather secondary (as long as it fits by design). More important is the power supply.
That just has to fit the power supply of the battery / laptop. Luckily, the data is printed on the bottom of the laptop or near the power outlet.
If in doubt, get in the nearest PC shop and a universal charger.
Important are watts, amps and volts, where I would recommend you to use no other power supply than the original for your Lappi.
If that does not work, take your parent's PC or go to an Internet Cafe.
You have to check if the voltage fits, if the power supply has enough power and can supply the required current, and if the plug is also correctly polarized and fits into the socket.
So if the power supply and my laptop both have 19 volts… Do I have to pay attention to something else, or can I use it?
Tension AND strength is crucial.
Tip: go to a store and take the notebook with you.
