I have a Medion Akoya S3409 with normal HDMI connection, i.e. Only 30hz with a 4k resolution (tried it). I'm currently considering which monitors I would like to buy to work at my desk.
I fluctuate between 1440p and 1080p.
Question: Is it possible to connect 2 1080p / 60hz monitors to the laptop via HDMI via a splitter?
Question: Is it possible to connect a second monitor in parallel to the HDMI connection via the USB c 3.1 Gen 1 connector? If so, does it manage 1080p / 60hz or even 1440p / 60hz?
For "pure" work, 1080p is long enough.

Yes, it is. Both will then only show the same picture

depends entirely on whether your USB-C connection supports the Displayport Alternative Mode
Actually, the normal monitors have a vertical frequency of 50-60 Hz and then there are the higher refresh rates 100, 120, 144, 165, 240 Hz. A splitter allows you to disconnect the monitor that is not used. Then display on both does not work.
Does your laptop support graphics output via the USB-C port? I mean Thunderbolt has to be supported on such a port. Your Medion is probably a simple 13.3 inch device with an integrated graphics chip (Intel HD 620). Every dream of exotic graphic gimmicks (including a second parallel monitor) may end there.
Can someone clarify here how a 144 Hz monitor would work on such graphics hardware via HDMI (!) / Not via USB 3.1-1Gen (!)?
Thanks for the reply.
I just called the Medion support because there's nothing to be found anywhere on the Internet, he said that the notebook should have this standard.
However, he could not tell me which resolutions this supports. Since it is a Gen 1 usb c connection, the data transfer rate is limited to 5 gbit / s. Could I still manage 1440p / 60hz?
Thank you for your answer.
You're right with the integrated graphics, but I'm not interested in gaming, just office work, surfing and multimedia playback, so 60hz is enough for me.
Just got on the phone with Medion support and they told me that he should probably support the video transmission. However, he could not tell me which resolutions this supports. Since it is a Gen 1 usb c connection, the data transfer rate is limited to 5 gbit / s. Could I still manage 1440p / 60hz?
I only know that the Intel HDGraphics 620 supports 4K / 60Hz. With the Intel i5 7200U (2.5 to 3.1 GHz) even streaming videos from the network should work with 4K; the graphics itself works up to 1.0 GHz, which is quite comparable to separate graphics cards (e.g. NV GTX970 => 1100 MHz). Up to 3 monitors are supported.
En hoe is het afgelopen? Werkt het is zit in een gelijke situatie
