On my (older) external HDD I have folders with pictures etc., which can be opened easily on my old laptop. However, that doesn't work on my new laptop. There's only one folder with a blue arrow at the bottom left and when I click on it the message "missing link" appears and I'm taken back to my personal folder when I click on "browse" on the error message. Are the files no longer accessible at all on the new laptop or can you still do something? Is that due to the formats?
You don't have the file itself on your new laptop, just a link.
look how big it is and what type of file (right mouse button> properties)
When you connect the external HDD to your new laptop, will it be displayed in Explorer?
I did, but there I can only look at the link bar, with everything else I get the message that it is invalid
I suspect that these are just connections.
can read the size of the folder?
If you mean the folder then yes
Unfortunately not that either. Maybe it helps if you don't save the pictures in the folder but individually on the hdd. Would it open on the new laptop?
Can still connect to the old pc?
All good, the problem is now solved ^^
OK how?
I copied the pictures again and placed them in a new folder and then we just went
OK. Then that's fine.
