I sold my Sony laptop. He is 5 years old and I have no more accessories for him. No CD etc.
Now I want to completely flatten him. However, there's always some files missing.
How can I reset it now?
Starting with Windows 8, there's the function PC Reset (just press the Windows key and search for "reset" or something). There you can choose whether the PC should be reset completely or if you want to keep your files (but I would like to make a backup beforehand anyway). Alternatively, you can download the Disc Creation Tool (or Media Creation Tool) from the Microsoft page. With this you can then download the appropriate iso-file. After that, they just have to burn (or play on a stick - not just copy).
Normally you would have on your hard drive (on a hidden partition) have a Recover, with the help of the laptop can be reset to factory settings.
How to do this is described in your Sony user guide.
Boot from an external medium and go to the command promt
There you enter
CD.
until you are on c:
There you enter: delete c: \ *. * / S (or del? Please try)
then (instead of) at most drive c: format, if you do not want that you can restore the files with tricks. I think it was format c:
If in doubt, enter:? Or help
