My friend got an external SSD for his laptop (so that the virtual machine operating system can react faster when it starts up), he just found out that his laptop only has USB 2.0, so that he can't achieve the speed of SSD.
For this reason we wanted to ask whether there's a special external USB 3.0 card that you also have to connect to the included power supply in order to achieve more power for real USB 3.0 speed?
No. You can't conjure up something faster from a USB 2 controller with more power or other magic.
Yes. EC34 on usb 3.0
But you need an Expresscard slot for it.
The fact that an SSD is also connected to the power will hardly bring you anything, as USB 2 can't transport as much data as USB 3.
Uff I think his laptop doesn't have an Expresscard slot.
Then it doesn't really work.
Does it mean that buying a new laptop is the only solution?
I wouldn't buy a new laptop for it. Then you just have to wait a little longer, that won't be so bad now.
Well for a friend. Because that can mean that his SSD under USB 2.0 is just as slow as an external HDD, so he probably threw his money out for free.
If it's an older laptop, you can upgrade USB 3.0 with a PCMCIA card.
Older laptops have a slot for insertion. Conrad had a USB.2 to USB.3 adapter. My older Fujitsu Siemens has such a slot, and there's also software.
