Hi
I still have an old laptop home that I do not need anymore. Does anyone know a good tutorial how I could use as a server? I would like to be able to save data on it, so what Dropbox-moderate.
So you want to use it as a kind of NAS.
You can create a folder somewhere on the laptop and share it on the network.
Simply connect to the local network, share your hard drive and get started.
However, the electricity costs are not in proportion to the cost of another external hard drive - which would probably be the better choice in your case.
As a NAS (network atached storage), the device is easy to use.
all you need is a folder, not to share one of the system folders like C: \ or C: \ Windows. C: \ users \ *** \ data
or, that would be the better solution, you install a Linux distribution on your computer and release a corresponding folder with Samba for Windows.
My old pc is maybe a bit old. He runs with Windows 95 and is about 20 years old. Is he too old or does it still work?

No, that's too old. In addition, Windows 95 uses as far as I do not even NTFS. This will be a problem when reading and writing files.
