If the laptop is not too cheap, it should be warm and yes you have to get a Java version of Minecraft

To play on Griefergames.net you need the Minecraft Java Edition. The edition that you buy in the Microsoft Store does not work. In Minecraft Launcher you should then preferably choose version 1.8.9 for griefing games.
GrieferGames is currently programming that you can play on it with the Windows 10 Edition. But this could still take a while.
