Defective speaker on the laptop?

After many years of successful collaboration with my laptop, the speakers suddenly gave up the ghost this morning.

A cracking sound can be heard from the speakers when you turn up the volume. Playback works via Bluetooth, but neither via headphones.

The device is an older laptop from the Fujitsu A series that is around 8 years old.

Is it because of the device or the speakers and can you fix it somehow?

It could also be that it doesn't work properly. I once had a driver problem with a printer. Scanning always worked fine, but printing did not work. The driver communicates between hardware and software. If there's a problem there, a system crash (blue screen) can make itself felt. To reinstall the driver, right-click on the Windows symbol in the lower left corner and then select Device Manager. There you can search for the sound card under Audio Video and Game Controller.

OK.

To test the speakers you could try the following. Restart the PC and use the F key to call up the BIOS. If you are in the BIOS just press a key that does not change any value or something in the BIOS. The speaker should now beep.
