I urgently need a new PC, but my parents don't think I really need it. How can I convince you?

I even offered to pay for it myself, which was originally my plan, but since my laptop is only 3 years old they say I don't need a new one, even though it is too weak. To make it clear, I don't need him for gaming, but video editing and school.

I completely agree with you! Besides, why are they so reprehensible here? It is quite normal as a teenager to want a PC that has what it takes to finally play games on it. He's a teenager (I suppose when I read his messages etc through), not a student at the university. We're in 2021 which is the most normal thing ever.

What is your laptop too weak for? It has to be enough for homeschooling. Playing with the computer can be a dangerous waste of time, especially for students. As a rule, social behavior and academic performance suffer from uncontrolled gaming. Without a proper school leaving certificate, you can at least bend your professional values.

Video editing requires powerful hardware, otherwise rendering will take forever. This task ultimately determines what your computer should do.

You'd have to tell us which device it is. Devices of the lower middle class should actually be able to cope with MS Teams and Powerpoint. Maybe you can fix it by reinstalling it or something like that.

That depends entirely on the grade level and their projects.
I've seen things lately, there's nothing to do with a 08154 laptop. Virtual machines and video projects are already included. You no longer need to come with 4 GB and an Intel I3.
