Have an internal hard drive installed?

My laptop has a lot of power but a memory that is far too small, so I wanted to ask whether you can have an internal hard drive installed somewhere, e.g. In an electronics store (MediaMarkt) or in a technology store, or does something not work? And do you have to buy it yourself?

Most devices have a flap at the bottom with a few screws. Underneath is a hard drive that can be exchanged using the click principle. Very easy.

I would generally recommend doing this yourself. It's cheaper and you can't go wrong. There are also tutorials on YouTube

I would buy one myself, firstly you can look for a model with the best price-performance ratio and then install it yourself. Is absolutely easy. The compartment for the hard drive is actually easy to find, loosen a few screws and install the new one. It is best to specify your laptop model on Youtube, with the addition of change hard drive.

I know something like that too well 😌. Just buy an external hard drive which online storage can offer you.

The problem is not the installation of the hard drive, but the transfer of the operating system.
If there's someone in your circle of acquaintances or relatives, I recommend a 500GB (or 1 TB) 2.5 inch internal hard drive from WD, Seagate or Samsung.

I recommend an external 2TB WD 2.5 "for full backup of the operating system. You also need a recovery CD.

Now it is possible to install the new hard disk and the expert can prepare and set up the new hard disk with gparted from Ubuntu.
The recovery CD is then booted and the operating system is backed up

Installed.

It's not a big deal for someone who has done this before, but without experience you reach your limits very quickly.
Material costs without external HDD about 70 euro and with external HDD about 140 euro, which is worthwhile because you can save more backups later.

Thanks for the tip, but I never want to have anything to do with external hard drives again, as they are more inappropriate on a laptop anyway.

What experiences have you had?

Thanks for the good rating.
