Which notebook (for university / school) is better for productive work - 13 or 14 (not an Apple product)?

I would like to buy a notebook that is not too big, with which you can work for a long time without a power adapter. I just ask why a 13 "? Why a 14"?

I would like to use it for productive work, like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. It shouldn't necessarily be in the range of 1000 euro, but rather less.
