Can I upgrade my mac version or is that not possible?

Hi! I would like to install the final cut pro test version, but the following message comes up all the time:

"final cut pro x trial can't be installed on this drive. MacOS version 10.15.6 or newer is required"

In my system settings it says I have macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 … Is that too old? I only bought the laptop about 2 years ago.
