Sometimes the sound on my laptop is gone. Then I have to restart the lappy and then it works again. What could that be?
Perhaps the audio drivers from your laptop are not installed correctly. I would uninstall it and then reinstall it.
It's best to reinstall / update the audio driver. The best way to do this is in Device Manager> right-click on the device> Properties> Driver.
If that doesn't help, you can only reinstall the operating system or replace the sound card

Does not have to be. Most of the time it really helps to reinstall a driver update or to completely reinstall Windows (or what you can do). And if there really is anything with the sound card, it will be covered by the warranty. If you say the laptop is only six months old, you can definitely contact the seller.
