I have a question and I have an Intel Core I7-3630QM processor in my laptop with a base speed of 2.4Ghz and a turbo speed of 3.4Ghz. Now I have noticed that when I don't charge my laptop, it only runs up to 2.39 GHz on battery power. But when I plug in the charger, I suddenly have an average of about 3Ghz at a time. I suspect that it has something to do with saving energy. Can you somehow activate that the PC also provides full performance in battery mode? VG
Turn off the energy-saving stuff.
In the energy saving plan under advanced settings, set minimum processor power to 100% and at maximum 100% then you will no longer get below 2.4GHz. But you have to set it with battery operation, with mains operation it should be like that
In the advanced options of the respective energy saving plans, you can definitely set the processor energy management up to which percentage clock and energy budget rate the CPU can use via battery and mains.
At 100%, the CPU is allowed to use the entire thermal / energy and clock rate latitude provided by Intel for the respective model. In battery mode, however, you should normally stay well below that.
I have configured my i5-4310m in battery and mains operation between 40 and 60% in an individual energy saving plan.
