Can you no longer change the screen brightness on your laptop?

Since yesterday evening I can no longer change my screen brightness on my laptop or if I want to make it brighter, nothing happens. I haven't uninstalled anything or anything like that, I haven't changed anything in any way. Can someone help me how I can fix it or what is the problem?

(I've already had the laptop for about 2 years, so it's not new)

Maybe this just depends, just restart it. Otherwise it could be that the light sensors of the laptop are broken.
