Do I have to take my notebook with me?
Has the advantage that you can take notes and test it live on your system.
I would bring my notebook to an event on the subject of "Excel"; even if in the end you don't necessarily need it on site, you can try things out directly.
Should be in the course catalog / the announcement of the event. I suspect that your seminar will take place in the computer room - it would also make sense that all students work with the same version of Excel.
Certainly not necessary, you can also evaluate your notes at home and then practice exercises.
The only thing that is a mystery to me is why this is taught in the course of study, for me the common software products are actually part of the basics.
Basics? What about programming in Excel in VBA?
That would then be a lecture (or series of lectures) "Programming in VBA" and not "Excel" - the questioner knows more about what exactly should be conveyed there.
