Hello everyone, I found this hard drive while mucking out. I would like to connect it to a laptop or other device as an "external" device and see if I can still find old pictures. Unfortunately, I just don't get through with all the connection cables. Can anyone recommend one here?
It is a Seagate Certified Repaired HDD with 160GB
Take a look at this adapter, it should work.

The adapter also has a direct connection for the power supply.
The connection is called IDE.
Ancient and lame. But an ide to usb adapter should work.
But watch out for the jumpers. At that time there was such a great function that was called master and slave 😃 You also need an adapter for electricity if not already integrated. The 4 pole is a molex
Can you solve with such an adapter, or an external hard drive housing.
Thanks. I'm more concerned with an ideal and personal value. 😉
The hard drive still uses an IDE connector for data and Molex for power. The adapters you'd have to buy to plug this thing into your laptop cost more than just buying a new external hard drive. And even if you plug that thing in, it'll be crawling slowly.
For me it's not about the dirt record, but about old data, pictures, etc. So it's more of a personal value that you may not be able to relate to. But thanks
The first adapter will not work, it is exactly the wrong way round. There's "converted" from SATA to IDE. The second adapter fits, but there's no power supply, which would then have to be added.
It is already clear. Before you dispose of such old stuff, you look again to see if there's anything important on it.
