I have already had experience with a Pioneer controller. Now I would like to become a live act myself and make music in the direction of techno and hardtekk or create remixes. For this I thought about buying a Korg. Which do you recommend to me? Do I need additional programs (especially if I only want to buy one at the beginning). Heard that a Korg should be too little to play an entire set. Others thought a 2nd Korg only offers space for more patterns. But I also have live acts like Nogge who only use a Korg with a laptop. Then there's the question of what additional software I need on my laptop.
Many thanks in advance.
(I always like to take other tips with me.)
Programs: Firefox (can play flac and mp3 sound), Audacity, Maybe DJ Master
There are websites that can do this
Which websites?
Legitimate question. In addition, such simple software as Audacity or DJ Master can certainly not do anything useful as a live DJ as intended.
Frankly, I think the plan to use a Korg step sampler or something similar is difficult and out of date. "Experience with a Pioneer controller" can mean pretty much anything. But the step from a DDJ SB or the like to a "real" live set is huge.
I recommend using e.g. "Ableton Live" or Native's "machine". The advantage is that an integration or link between DJ and producing software is possible. Without this linking of the software, syncing or even quantizing is almost impossible. Experience has shown that the classic MIDI clock is a bit difficult.
As far as I know, this is easiest with Traktor Pro 3 and Maschine, because both come from the same house. Serato DJ Pro meanwhile offers a similar solution with Serato DJ Studio, but this is obviously not so strongly designed for live.
It is ideal to add an additional controller for the machine, e.g. Machine "Jam" or "Micro".
