I was stolen from a laptop, I can live with it so far and the data was backed up.
Now I'm considering whether it can be found somehow.
I'm assuming that the flat is made flat…
But Windows 10 licenses are hardware bound. Can you find it somehow if you want to reactivate yourself via the internet?
If the key is in the BIOS and the new owner is using it, this should be possible when Microsoft and the police work together
Okay thanks!
However, I can probably assume that Microsoft is not interested if someone has stolen the laptop…
The police can force Microsoft to issue the IP
Okay then i try my luck, there's nothing to lose except my time…
The police have recorded this if he shows up somewhere, but not much else will happen…
In retrospect it is logical that they can't chase after everything with a value of 1500 euro or so…
I can't agree with that. In other countries, you can also put imei on a mobile phone list. That would make theft and stealing unattractive in the long term with very little effort if you standardized and automated it.
What do you mean you can't agree to that? Do you have other experiences or do you just find it stupid that nothing is done?
Until I explained what I mean with a digital license in the bios…
I think it's stupid that nothing is done. That would be minimal effort to maintain a list of stolen imei numbers or license keys and to exchange them with Microsoft
