Connect XBox One S and laptop?

I have a question. Can I use the XBox One S as a DVD player and connect it to the laptop?

So I mean that I register XBox and laptop via the XBox app and then insert a DVD and then play it. Is that possible?

Yes with an HDMI cable

The xbox one has an hdmi output.

But a laptop has no hdmi input. Except for a few models.

I don't know if it works via the app but I doubt it
