I want to buy a new laptop. Is there a big difference if it has 512 GB or 256 GB? Does anyone know?
Whether 512 or 556 GB hard drive does not matter.
556 GB sounds very crooked but 40GB more, should not make much difference in practice.
The title of your question is a typo. You stand to choose whether 512 GB or 256 GB.
So: Normally enough 256 GB to work with Office for years, without the hard drive is full.
Windows 10 consumes up to 100 GB on its own, over the years. But then still remain 120 GB for your files, which is usually sufficient.
Only if you have larger amounts of data, e.g. Alone 50 GB of music / videos, or something else big, then the 512 GB would be the better choice. Or: If you wanted to install large PC games, they also need a lot of space.
