How can I connect to the internet in my situation?

I have a problem with the creation of an Internet connection (LAN). And although this is a connection in which one gets a fixed IP and par other parameters assigned (DHCP?). So there's no automatic IP allocation.

I entered the data correctly on Windows both on my laptop and on my tower computer. The problem: everything works fine on my laptop, but if I put the LAN cable into my tower computer (everything is configured the same way) it will be shown that the network can't be identified… Although the data is just as registered as the laptop where everything works. What could be the problem? Since I only a week ago the computer where else with a LAN network (here the IP can be assigned manually) could connect I would rule out a hardware error. Also, I reset Windows (10) to factory settings and it happens the same. Of course the computers are not connected at the same time, I have no physical access to the rooter.

Now I do not know again. Can someone help me here. Why does it work on the laptop and not on the computer?

Ca

I do not know why. I had the same problem, restarting the router has solved all my problems! So properly disconnect from the mains and run it again, etc…

To

I'm in the student dorm therefore I can't get there…

Ca

Ohh, that's problematic…

Ca

I would first wait for a few days and then restart the PC and reconnect to the mains.

Maybe it's with you that the router has assigned the IP to a MAC address (that of the notebook) and only that has access. With it one wants to avoid the 1001 users hang on a haven and durchschnorren.

br

Did not you ask the same question already? However, you wanted to hang a router to the LAN?

br

You should always include that in your question that you live in a dorm and use the internet facility there. So you can better assess the situation.

To

Yes, hello what can I do if my IP has been assigned a MAC address? Then I would have to transfer the address from the working machine on the computer that is not working.

br

Yes, you can fake a MAC address on the PC… But please ask elsewhere for the procedure…

It's just a guess with the MAC address… You could also contact the admin of the dorm and inquire.

DHCP on the one hand and "no automatic IP allotment" on the other hand contradict each other.

I entered the data correctly on Windows both on my laptop and on my tower computer.

What data is that? What data did you need to provide to get these configuration parameters?

To

I have to enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway / router, and DNS server. In Network Settings → Adapter Options → and then manually configure the Ipv4.

To

That did not work with the MAC address.

br

Then maybe something's wrong with your PC.

You could also contact the admin of the dorm

Also a possibility

Then DHCP is completely out of the game. To be honest, that's a lot of nonsense for a user's device. Once you want to work with the device somewhere else, you have to switch back to "automatic" and back in the dorm again. Such a thing is nonsense.

Who gave you the data and instructions? What data did you have to provide in return?
