From Windows Vista to Windows 10?

I would like to convert my TarvelMate 5210 that has Windows Vista Basic to Windows 10 (I already asked everyone said it works) it runs smoothly with Vista and it only crashes if you use it for a long time during the day (i.e. Not often) I know unfortunately with the topic zero and ask for an answer that I could understand, Thank you very much! My question is how do I do it, would I like to buy a Windows 10 CD, how do I install it and how does it work; and whether my laptop then runs well and whether I can then play games well (e.g. Star Stable)? I would love to help, thank you and have a nice day! Byee

Re

This is a bit complicated, after a short research I read that a direct upgrade from Vista to 10 is not possible.

It may be possible to upgrade Vista to 7 and from 7 to 10, which seems very tedious to me and I can well imagine that many problems could arise (Windows 7 is now also not a supported Windows version or does not get any updates more.)

I would advise you to format the hard drive (delete everything on it) and then install Windows 10. Then you have a cleanly installed Windows.

That would be the most sensible way.

I don't know exactly whether you can still buy Windows CDs / DVDs, but you can create one or, what is even more useful and easier, a USB stick is to be used. There's a program from Microsoft for this purpose:

https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10

Thank you very much! Do you know how I delete everything exactly how I upgrade (So how do I buy this and such?) Thank you very much!

Re

Yes, but I would have to explain that in great detail and I guess even if I did that, it would still be relatively difficult for someone who has no idea about the subject.

So roughly explained:

You create an installation medium (USB, DVD) for Windows 10 using the link above and the file that can be downloaded there.
You save all your data that you want to keep such as scores, photos, documents, etc. E.g. On a USB stick (do not use the same one as for the Windows installation) and disconnect it so that it is not accidentally formatted during the Windows installation.
Then you restart the computer and in the first few seconds afterwards you can A) open BIOS and change the boot sequence so that the computer does not load the hard drive first, but the content of the medium is available on the Windows 10 installation or B) the boot menu open and then select the appropriate entry from the list, i.e. The Windows 10 installation.
Then the Windows installation program is loaded, there you can select the version of Windows 10 you want to install, format it and finally start the installation.
Wait until the installation is over and then carry out the first steps / initial configuration, you will be asked what the user name should be and accept data protection-related topics, etc.

Maybe you have someone around you who knows a little about it and can do it for you.

It's no longer worth it with such an old device. I'd rather install a Linux distro on it. For example Bodhi Linux. This distro only needs 1/4 of the system resources that Vista would otherwise need. Even if you use a desktop theme with transparency effects with Bodhi Linux, only about 3% more system resources are required. Here is the download of the ISO:

32bit: https://sourceforge.net/...o/download

64bit: https://sourceforge.net/...o/download

If the 64bit version works, you should use it.

Then burn the ISO with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/ on an empty DVD or, if you can boot from USB, iron https://unetbootin.github.io/ on an empty FAT32 formatted stick with this tool.

Now boot the burned DVD or the stick. Just follow the instructions of the wizard. The hardware is set up automatically. In the installation options, simply select the option "Erase hard drive and install Bodhi Linux". Then Windows Vista will be deleted and Bodhi Linux will be installed.

Now you have the possibility to use the current Firefox again. You simply install it via the package manager.

Bodhi Linux goes off like a rocket. In contrast, Windows Vista is a lame duck.

Many thanks for the help!
