Can I use my laptop as a monitor for the ps3 without additional equipment if I connect it with a hdmi cable. Do I have to download something or is it that way?

No it's not possible. Laptops have only one HDMI-OUT, you would need HDMI-IN for a signal to come.

Of course they have an entrance, otherwise you could not connect a console or a DVD player or a receiver.
