I wrecked my screen a few days ago. Now I was wondering if I could use my laptop as a screen for the PC. I know there's a keyboard shortcut (Win p) that has various screen mirroring options. However, I only have one HDMI cable, which I connected from the PC to the laptop. Can I now somehow connect my desktop to the laptop? When I start the laptop, I don't get to my usual app desktop but to that of the laptop.
Laptops usually have no video input, so no.
No. Works with special models, but not with all
Unfortunately it does not work.
Buy a monitor and you can use it on your laptop and PC. Or you start borrowing the teamviewer monitor briefly. But it becomes difficult with continuous use.
The HDI connection on laptops is an output from which you can connect an external monitor, and not an input. This means that only a video signal can come out of this output, but the laptop can't get a signal into it.
It's a bit like trying to connect a microphone to the speaker connections of your stereo system to record music
