Controller does not connect to virtual dj, what am I doing wrong?

Halo, here is my problem:

I have a controler from hercules (mp3 e2) and the software virtual dj. Since you can only use the free version for 1 month, I downloaded it again. To start from the beginning, I also downloaded the driver from the hercules side for my controller. As requested, I then connected the device and it was also recognized.

Now if I open the program and connect the controler, I can't control the program over there device. The device is connected to the laptop, the name lights up, but the keys are not.

what should I do? I know that the first time I try, the same steps have done and it has also worked.

It will not be enough to simply install the program again to get 1 month to test again. Somewhere the system remembers that it was already installed.

And usually the free version does not work for free with controllers. But you seem to know that.
