If I want to gamble with my laptop and give it a hotspot on my mobile phone, how much traffic is used then? A lot or a little?
As long as no new files have to be requested in the background, the traffic is dwindling and, according to our own experience, is limited to roughly 20-30 Mb with an hour of playtime. Don't think that anything will have changed much in the last two years.
In general, the pure data transfer of multiplayer titles is low and can usually be measured in a few Kb per second.
The only real impact is games and servers that require user-created multiplayer maps or skins that are not part of the regular game.
